An event specifically designed for participants to brainstorm and bring innovative ideas about the functioning of an NGO. Apply your managerial expertise to solve live problems that not- for-profit non-governmental organisations are facing. You will get to work with NGOs, and be tested for understanding of the issue, stakeholders, corresponding social impacts, among other things. The competing teams will need to select and alternative and a plan of action for the same keeping in mind the feasibility.


  • The members of teams cannot be from different institutes.
  • Event is open for all students and student organizations.
  • Team can be of 1st year, 2nd year or a mix of both.
  • A student cannot be part of more than one team.
  • All decisions in matters of eligibility, authenticity, and final judgments will be with Confluence team.
  • The format and rules of events are subject to change before the start of the event
  • There is no limit to the number of teams participating from an institute.
  • Teams selected for the final round will be partially reimbursed for travel.
  • Participation in all the rounds necessary to claim any of the prizes.

Round 1

The first round will be document submission and this round will be an online elimination round. The teams will be judged on the basis of their solutions and approaches to the problem provided in a case let. The submission will be one page with a maximum of 500 words. The submission can be in either doc/pdf format. The submissions have to be mailed to: p15deepdineshk@iima.ac.in with the subject as: [Confluence] Run the NGO Submission.

Following the round 1, top three teams will be selected for the campus round.

Round 2

The second round will be with an NGO and would incorporate a visit to their office/field. Consequently, the participants would interact with the administration and understand the problem, which they would address and solve. The problem will be provided to in form of a case. The teams will be given 24-hour deadline to provide their submissions. Following which they would have to present their analysis to the judges. The presentation will have maximum of 10 slides. The presentation will be of 10 minutes each followed by 5 minutes for follow-up questions.

Use abductive thinking to understand the problems encountered by either the administration/people suffering from similar conditions. Provide real-time solutions that can be implemented and are feasible economically The teams will be judged on the basis of their understanding the problem and providing novel solutions to the topic, not use just management jargons but real-time solutions. They will also be judged on their presentation, their delivery skills.


First Prize – INR 30,000 Second Prize – INR 20,000 Winner of the First Round – INR 5,000
